My 2024 Roundup
I never did get back to my 88 day Challenge but 49 days was certainly enough. I did get my writing finished focusing on why I write. Like all things, I'll share it here eventually.
But now . . .
Another year has passed and I wonder where it has gone. I’ve slowed down a lot on my activities. In fact, 2024 stacked up to be “the best laid plans” and you know how that always goes. Even our Thanksgiving trip to Indianapolis blew up thanks to Erin, our daughter-in-law, getting hammered at work. No one was happy but we will see them after Christmas there and that is a good thing. We’ll be able to see their new house for the first time and meet their two cats who are new to their household.Between retreats that were planned and then didn’t happen and injuries to my ongoing knee and foot problems, it’s been a heck of a slowdown year. I haven’t even driven the car at all since January, thank you knees, very much. I’ll decide in 2025 whether to have surgery or just pass on it and deal. Suffice it to say, we are much more committed to the home front.
I left off studying Spanish all of 2023 and most of 24 but picked it up again last month and am having fun with it. There’s nothing like learning another language to keep the brain nimble.
Don and I continue to attend book fairs and Don is actively working on his second book. His sales have been going up and a recent book signing in town was a great success. He was been invited to several podcast and radio interviews around the country so his exposure has really increased. In fact, he had his first international, live, on air interview this month with a podcaster out of England.
I was invited to write at Catholic365.com in 23 but slowed down a lot in 24. That is mainly because of me battling mild depression because of my physical slowdown but like all things, it’s a cycle and writing is picking up again.
As one might expect, we have not done much traveling this year. At our age, as many of you know, driving and sleeping in different places is not very restful.
The biggest and most surprising thing for us, though, is our plan to move. AGAIN. We have decided to move to Tennessee to be much closer to Krista, her husband, Adrian, and the five grands. How fast that happens depends completely on the sale of this house. It’s a hard market here so we’ll see. Another upside is that moving to Tennessee also reduces our drive time by an hour to Indianapolis where our son and his wife live.
We continue to be blessed beyond measure and are gratified to know that you are all still out there so we can share a little bit of ourselves with you during this happy time of the year.
Wishing you are very Merry Christmas and love to you all,
Annie and Don
Another move? That is a big surprise.
ReplyDeleteHope you can sell your house quickly and it all goes smoothly.
Congratulations to Don on his book success and podcast ventures. That must be pretty exciting and encouraging. Please refresh my memory. What is his book about?
It is under History, Biographical and Politics; anti-Communism/Socialism and pro-Christianity. Title is I Could Have Been One. I use my own life to demonstrate social/pollical changes in our country and by extension the world. It is well researched and has graphics. Received a 5 Star review with Golden Quill award. DeleteDidn't know you were moving. Where in TN? I wish you the best. Have a very Merry Christmas. BETSY
ReplyDeleteGood thing you are flexible enough to move when needed! I am sorry about your knees. Both of mine are shot, and I opted for radiofrequency ablation rather than surgery. I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry to hear about your move, but completely understand. Best wishes to you.
