Some folks want to call me brave, and it's tempting to accept the label, but that would make me willing slave to the plot of this fell fable, 'cause cancer is what cancer does, fatigue, despair, and blinding pain. I am not what I once was, but terrified, I yet remain to face this long and endless night, to face the work that comes with dawn. It is more ordeal than fight, but life still somehow must go on, and I must pull from deep inside what I have left of manly pride.
Andrew, I love how you really own what you read and then share it back to us. I read your comments elsewhere and they always enhance the source. Best wishes to you.
I love that last stanza's sentiment of being broken but not defeated. Thanks for sharing with the FMF community! (Your neighbor at #11 this week.)
