Friday Five Minute Writing Prompt- Persevere
Romans 5: 3 “ . . . when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.
Grief, sadness, and confusion were my constant companions in my young adult years. I learned that some things can't be fixed and perseverance became my middle name. Isolation shielded me from advice, from guidance. The knowledge that joy could be mine was absent in the midst of my own misery but much later in life was mine to share with others. I called that a hard won lesson and a win.
In bible study, we have recently been studying the Book of James where he tells us to count it all joy. So hard to do at the time, but later you can use what you learned for the next time trouble comes to rely on Him. (Because it will come again and again until we get to glory.)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a win.
ReplyDeleteThere are some things can't be mended,
ReplyDeletesome fractures that can't be repaired,
so from a knee that's bended
face up to God and be prepared
to follow the unwanted script
that He's writ out for you,
from which the best lines have been ripped
and what's left just don't seem true
to what you thought that you would be
when you reached this count of years
to claim the brass-ring victory
but only found salt tears,
and learned that it came down to this,
that our loved ways for sure ain't His.
